We are committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040, with an ambition to reach this earlier where commercially and technically feasible.

As a provider of AI-enabled digital healthcare solutions to the NHS, we recognise our responsibility to reduce our environmental impact while supporting the NHS commitment to become the world’s first Net Zero healthcare system.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Our baseline year is 2025/26, representing the first year in which comprehensive emissions reporting has been established across the organisation.

The majority of emissions arise from:

* Cloud infrastructure

* Business travel

* Employee commuting

* Purchased IT equipment

* Home working energy consumption

As a cloud-first software organisation, Vertergi has no manufacturing operations or significant industrial emissions.

Current Emissions Reduction Measures

Vertergi has already implemented the following initiatives:

Digital First Operations

* Paperless business operations.

* Electronic contracts and digital signatures.

* Cloud-based collaboration.

* Remote implementation and customer support.

Sustainable Cloud Hosting

Healthcare solutions are hosted within energy-efficient UK cloud data centres.

Cloud infrastructure is continually reviewed to:

* optimise processor utilisation;

* reduce unnecessary storage;

* minimise duplicate environments;

* automatically power down non-production environments.

Remote Working

Most employees work remotely or in hybrid roles, significantly reducing commuting emissions.

Video conferencing is the default approach for:

* customer meetings;

* implementation workshops;

* training;

* project governance.

Sustainable Procurement

When selecting suppliers, environmental performance is considered alongside quality, security and value for money.

Preference is given to suppliers that:

* operate ISO 14001 certified management systems;

* publish Carbon Reduction Plans;

* demonstrate measurable emissions reductions.

Equipment Lifecycle

Computers and monitors are retained for extended operational life where appropriate.

Retired equipment is securely recycled using accredited recycling providers.

Future Carbon Reduction Initiatives

Between 2026 and 2030 Vertergi intends to implement:

Cloud Optimisation Programme

Continuous optimisation of AI workloads to reduce compute demand while maintaining performance.

Renewable Energy

Increase procurement from suppliers operating renewable-powered facilities wherever practical.

Business Travel

Reduce UK business travel through:

* remote demonstrations;

* virtual implementation workshops;

* hybrid customer engagement.

Travel requiring flights will only occur where operationally necessary.

Supply Chain Engagement

Encourage strategic suppliers to:

* publish Carbon Reduction Plans;

* measure Scope 3 emissions;

* adopt science-based reduction targets.

Office Energy Efficiency

Where office accommodation is used, preference will be given to buildings with EPC ratings A or B..

Reduction Targets

2027 10%

2030 35%

2035 60%

204 Net Zero
